Full Of Thoughts...and Thanks

The holidays always bring about a lot of feelings for everyone, not just me...Warm Fuzzy Hot Chocolate Memories..and The Aching Want of Days/People Gone By.

This year I have a lot to be thankful for. My family, Benjamin, new business, old and new friends. A new adventure that shows quips, turns, and elbow grease-- but the rewards are so plentiful. Whether its a smile that melts my heart--or a new word-- or a random person praising our hard work. Every action has a reaction, and every emotional investment has its returns... 

In such happy times, filled with food and family -- I cant help but to miss those that are gone.. My daddy-- this is our 9th Christmas without him. Our 9th year! He was so special, such a great great man, dad, POP-- and even though the holidays without him have become the norm-- all the changes that happened bc he is no longer here have become the norm and expected too.. Like the OLD TIMES-- the WHOLE family was there. We all ate, took pictures, ate, kids played-- the fellas rough housed in the front yard-- and the ladies cleaned the kitchen. Its sad now that its a mad rush to get there- everyone scarves down their plate- makes a plate for whomever didnt show- rush through the presents- and leave before the wrapping paper is even off the floor. There are the few who hang out- chat- catch up etc... but when my daddy was here- everyone stayed for a while. It was a "family day". I miss wrapping his undershirts and hershey kisses and chocolate syrup in a can (those were a staple under the tree) he was happy for the little things. I truly think he enjoyed the company more than the chocolate. And I miss that simplistic light on such a hectic day. I miss him tons!!

I have a lot of Christmas spirit.. I established my own little family(before Benne) of my former home, with my former life-- I was Holly Homemaker during the holidays.. and I loved it! I used to start baking Nov 1st- trying new recipes and always having my "taste tester" available and ready for sweets.. Thanksgiving had been held at my house for the past 5 years-- but I dont live there anymore. I dont have my own tree, nor my decorations to hang, nor my kitchen to bake... This year is so foreign to me. Its like that first Christmas after losing my dad-- Just breezed by. Alot of hurt, and alot of mixed emotions...and i have no concept of time. Thanksgiving is in 3 days... and had this been my usual routine.. Id have already started baking, and cleaning, and setting up my home for the festivities! So Im a little sad-- but on the brighter side.... i get to enjoy Benjamins First Holidays (where he is aware of whats happening) and not have to be worried about the carpet or where to put the dog or who will think im crazy for leaving my lights up until February! This is my year to sit back and be thankful for my family, and the great people in it. Next year will be the time to reinvent the holidays (although keeping some of my most prized traditions) and starting a new.

But when Benjamin can recognize and vocally state that he knows them, and sings the song when its on; it is by far the cutest and I will continue to quote the movie over and over in my head- even in my sleep.

Oh Sweet Fall...

I have been so so busy with Halloween, Benne, the Fair, and working that Ive blinked....it is already November 13th! Where has the time gone...I love Fall, the crisp smell of the air...sweaters and scarves.. boots....Halloween... the colors of the season are such a welcomed sight after a hot summer.....I love being outside all day!! the chilly cheeks are so totally worth it!!! Even though my hair may frizz from the heater-- My most favorite time of the year!!! Happy fall Yall

My two Most Favorite Handsome Boys..Benjamin and Wheeler.... Gearing up for some Halloween Fun!! They make such a fun team, I can only hope this sweetness lasts forever!!

Last year we got the fun idea to dress the boys as Homemade Octopus... and we had their pictures done together...They were so cute... and it seems like yesterday... this Halloween was a little different...

I have to say... Hulk Hogan was most certainly my hero (alongside of my Daddy ofcourse) And I wanted to share my love of Wrestling in the 80s/early 90s....Other than the stache I was pleasantly pleased!!

.... 3 years later....

So Ive decided to re-join the BLOG nation...   Its been a WHILE... and ALOT has changed!!! I no longer am a bartending party girl.. my life has re-directed and I LOVE IT!! I have a little boy- my whole world- Benjamin Collier Scott. He is 15  months, wild and crazy and the Greatest thing to ever happen to me!!

So my days are no longer filled with sleeping til 10, starbucks, and shopping... ive traded my party pants for puzzles and swingsets! I love it.. So I will now blog about the crazy life I live.... the full on PARTY we have- dancing the Hotdog Dance!

OOOOHH MY LOVE OF THE E TRAIN

I AM TOTALLY CRAVING NEW YORK!! NOT JUST THE PIZZA AND CANOLI BUT THE ACTUAL STINK OF THE CITY!! I WANT TO BE THERE SOO EFFEN BAD!!! So.. YES... New Year brings on New Goals! Ive accumulated my list of things I most likely will only accomplish a few of- but hey "you gotta have a goal.right..do you have a goal?" (pretty woman- thanks Kit) So here it goes...

*FIND A NEW JOB THAT MAKES ME HAPPY =) AND HOPEFULLY MONEY

I'm on a mission to behave and live better. Im already on my way, and I'm determined to still be skinnier once bathing suit season is on--not have this gigantic BEER GUT!

We have chosen to throw a PRE ST PATTYS party for him on Friday. He is Mr. Irish~so I am attempting to make corned beef cabbage and potatoes just for him!!Everyones wearing green..and Im going to try to replicate a "savannah style" St. Pattys. So it should be an ADVENTURE!! Hopefully I will be alive come saturday!! hah!
Ive also pulled together a bunch of pictures of us and all our crew and started making a photoalbum..and i was thinking of having everyone write a note to him filled with funny jokes and favorite things about him and slipping them into the photo slots. We also had an idea of video messaging and filming our crazy night and making him a dvd--but then will he have computer access to be able to watch it?
Care Packages? Like candy? Magazines? What else?

Im may be FREAKING a little

So i have this friend.. a new friend. He is so very sweet and polite and just a joy to be around. He gets my jokes...he calls me Bonqueshia....he knows what "poont" means...and he kicks my ass on Mortal Kombat! And on Sunday he is being shipped off to the desert! This is his second time there. The first tour wasnt so much fun for him. He was actually in Maxim-a picture that one would only hope was fictional.
My dad was in the Navy- but I never really understood the magnitude of war- until now the thought of possibly never seeing someone again. Especially someone who I have yet to get to know. It sucks!
So Im freakin a little. And he doesnt want to go. Which is worse bc the countdown is on. Poor thing!

Merry Christmas!!

Im absolutely exhausted! Its only 10:00 and it feels like its 3 am! My right arm is stiff and sore from all my mixing! hah- Banana Pudding; cookies;mac n cheese; peanut butter fudge ect ! Merry Merry Christmas! Hope everyone enjoyed their families and all the holiday cheer today! Im hittin the hay!

SO TODAY WAS A FUN DAY! MY NIECE ANNA TURNED 5 TODAY. SHE IS SUCH A SPOILED LITTLE BRAT- BUT I LOVE HER ANYWAY. SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BIT SASSY..A LOT LIKE ME. HER MOM IS YOUNG AND SHE ISNT REALLY EVER IN A "GROWN UP" ENVIRONMENT. SHE IS 5 AND CAN SING EVERY WORD TO "LOW"-THE APPLE BOTTOM JEANS SONG. SHE IS 5 GOING ON 17. AND THIS GOT ME THINKING....

WHAT HAPPENED TO HAVING A CHILDHOOD!? WHERE ARE THE TINKER TOYS AND BIKES AND BABY DOLLS AND PLAYING SCHOOL? WHAT HAPPENED TO PLAYING OUTSIDE? SWINGSETS? ALL OF THESE PRECIOUS MEMORIES I HAVE HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH WII AND NINTENDO DS AND 9 YEAR OLDS WITH CELL PHONES! BRATS HAVE REPLACED BARBIE! HANNAH MONTANA IS THE NEW PUNKY BREWSTER. WHERE ARE THE SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS!? AND KOOL-AID!? I WATCHED A MOM BUY HER 4 AND 6 YEAR OLD FRAPPUCINOS AT STARBUCKS! WTF!?

WITH ALL THIS "NEW AGE" COMES A SADNESS BECAUSE I WANT MY KIDS TO PLAY OUTSIDE-AND NOT WITH ELECTRONICS. I WANT MY DAUGHTERS IMAGINATION TO FLOURISH PLAYING HOUSE AND SCHOOL AND BARBIES! AND I DONT WANT MY 10 YEAR OLD TO ASK ME FOR A MYSPACE! I MEAN WHERE ARE THE SMOCKED DRESSES...AND CUTESY BABY GEAR. BABIES SHOULD LOOK LIKE BABIES. MY 3MONTH OLD WILL NOT BE WEARING A PUMA TRACK SUIT. I JUST DONT GET IT.

IM FEARFUL FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS. IM ALMOST SCARED TO HAVE A BABY--ALL THE CRAZIES AND CREEPIES THAT ARE AROUND. GROSS!!

Hi Everyone! Ive decided to join the phenomena of BLOGGING. Im a pretty sociable person with MORE THAN ENOUGH to say!

Im Holly. Im 25--26 in 9 days---i will officially be over the hump! Hooray! Im a Christmas baby- hence the HOLLY..my sister always said it was better than MISTLETOE!

I live in Charleston, SC--BEST CITY EVER!! I love the beach and the pool and anything OUTDOORS in the summertime! Take it from me- I LOVE LOVE LOVE it up north--but theres truly no place like HOME! Where else can you go on a Plantation tour of historic families-and witness BUBBA the mullet sportin maintenance man peein in the "historic cotton fields" while holding a beer at 2 in the afternoon. (totally joking) Honestly though- I thouroughly enjoy saying YES MA'AM and NO SIR and callin everybody SUGAR! Bless your Heart!! I enjoy having manners and an appreciation for COLLARD GREENS!! MMmmm! Id move to NYC in a skinny minute-Ive always wanted to- but i know the second i could... Id be back! Theres nothing like it!! GOOD FAMILY.. GOOD FRIENDS...GOOD FOOD! YEE HAW!!( ok so joking)

Im a bartender and full fledged FUN TIME GAL! I know that life is serious and that Im totally behind my peers as far as growing up (real jobs and families) but Im having way too much fun! I definitely believe in SEIZING the DAY!! Or atleast happy hour with good friends. I LIVE for the SUMMER and the 115degree heat--but Im never unhappy when COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON ARRIVES!!! You think id give the liver a rest--nah!

I'm engaged--to the biggest nerd ever--but i love him.. Bless his heart-and we have been together forever! 8 years..thats a whole 'nother BLOG!!

I have 2 dogs- Mr. Binx and GiGi! A yorkie and a shitzu... LOVE them!! If they shed any light on how i will be with my children--Im in for a LONG road of SPOILAGE!! They like to wear clothes..well actually Mr. Binx likes to dress up-and Miss Gigi would rather go roll in the mud!! POLAR OPPOSITES!! but it makes for a fun and entertaining dynamic! Trust that there will be many MANY stories of them to come!

I have been blessed with the GREATEST FAMILY! I was adopted into a family of 5 brothers and sisters-the youngest of which was 17 when I came along. I have 8 neices and a nephew. We are all around the same age had such a blast growing up that we are all still pretty close. Brittiany and Karissa were always more my sisters than neices. Still are. We are all SO different-yet so close. We can not talk for weeks and then pick up as if it were yesterday. I love it! My Mom-aka BAD BETTY-is the Supreme Head of our gang. She is so funny and caring that we all personify her FIERCENESS in some way shape or form..My Dad- who is no longer with us- was such a great person. We ALL miss him and carry around a little piece of POP with us.
BLESSED!! I will "family" blog next time. They are all such a part of the person I am today.
